Little Notes - Tiny Ruins & a Singer of Songs

a Singer of Songs lives in Barcelona while Tiny Ruins is from New Zealand. The two knew each other through their music, but had not met. This all changed in 2010, when they embarked on a small and noble tour of northern Spain. One hospital visit, one birthday cake, several piggy-back rides, a couple of tequilas and thousands of wrong turns later, and they’d recorded six songs during one week, in the room of a charming old apartment in Barcelona.

“I treasure it like you treasure your favorite photo album. Meeting Hollie, touring together, playing and writing music. And becoming friends. It was a fast and beautiful ride and 'Little notes' was the unexpected destination. I wish I could go back there.”

This EP is more than just 6 hauntingly beautiful tracks; it is a testament to the important truth that there are amazing people in every corner of the world. Amazing people in search of other amazing people. Yes, the internet may house a lot of creeps and produce a lot of filth, but it also is the home to old souls like Lieven and Hollie and it makes art, such as this EP, possible to be created.

And not just created, but enjoyed by amazing people like you.

What Others Are Saying:

Sub-Rock Music: Placed in the number 4 spot for their Top Ten EPs of 2010

Watch Me For The Changes: “Flawlessly conveys sentimental resentment and the desire to recall the most imperfect moments”

Is This Music?: “The album is stunning at times, especially in its ability to create beautiful acoustic soundscapes, accentuated by whimsical lyrics and dreamy vocals – a package that’s quite rare to find in artists these days.”

FensePost: “It is haunting, light folk, both endearing and emotive.”

Slowcoustic: “I would definitely recommend the EP for a quiet time that you can dedicate to it – it may only come in at 27 minutes, but you shouldn’t miss any of it.”

Ondarock: “Il profumo dell'estate, un appartamento a Barcellona, un paio di bicchieri di tequila e sei canzoni sbocciate come piccole note di un'amicizia cullata dalla lontananza.”

Vue Weekly: “Guided by a calculated minimalism underneath quiet engulfing voices, a Singer of Songs' liquid baritone cuddles the haunting velour of Tiny Ruins femme fatale vocals for a solid six songs.”

Eardrums: “It’s one of those pieces of music that can make you cry just by listening to it. Amazingly beautiful!”

Folk Radio UK: “Well suited to the cold, dark nights of the winter months this is a slow burner, perhaps a background listen at first but like the vocals that unravel and wrap around you tugging on your thoughts; it’s one that will refuse to let go until properly digested.”
