What are your biggest musical inspirations (or things that inspire your writing)? 

I like so many bands for various reasons but I can't name any that have inspired a specific song. When Say Hi! was called Say Hi To Your Mom the album Impeccable Blahs definitely made me want to produce, make beats, use synths and so on. Lambchop, Damien Jurado, Built to Spill, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, The Books, The Notwist.............................I could go on. 

What is your favourite thing and what is your least favourite thing about the internet?

I've been introduced to some amazing people. Everyone I make music was found here. I've never met any of them in person. I think we all spend too much time nuturing our ego's on Facebook, Twitter etc. It's not good for us. I believe it only makes us sad and lonely. Stop.......take a deep breath, read a book, make dinner, go for a walk. I miss the days when I could feel the things I knew (yes........that's a line for a song.......and I'm gonna use it).

You can take one book and one movie from the present and you can put it in a special time machine mail box that will send that book and movie back to your 16 year old self (and don't worry, the book and movie will not disappear if they are sent to a time before they existed - the time machine mail box has been specifically designed to deal with this situation).

What book and what movie would you send and why?

• Movie: I would send myself Easier With Practice. Being a 16 year old guy with low self-esteem I think this movie would do me good. Just like Nevermind did me good back then. I could pick 50 other movies but I just wish the whole world would watch Easier With Practice so I'm going with that one. It's a great film.
• Book: I would send myself "On the Road". I started to read the book a few years ago but I just felt too old. Had I only read that book at 16 my life would look a lot different today.

You can only have one thing for the rest of your life, which do you chose: cigarettes, coffee, wine, beer or ketchup?

I've never smoked. I've stopped drinking coffee. Wine gives me a headache............so it has to be either beer or ketchup. I will go for beer although this will only lead to a sad and lonely life.
